Secret Affair… Sultry Obsession

Posted in 1 tagged , , at 1.29 am by adaphnee

Calvin Klein’s new fragrance, Secret Obsession, is on the shelves. More than a seductive and floral oriental perfume, its new advertising campaign featuring Eva Mendes seems to create buzz in the media. Its very torrid and sexually exposed side steams controversy.

I actually like this new ad and am seduced to buy the perfume without even having smelled it. The black and white tone and Mendes’ natural and sexy charm gives the original burnt orange bottle an image of mystery and seduction. I also believe the position of the bottle and its shape also creates a subliminal effect… Thoughts?

Fairies & Dreams…

I must say I love Van Cleef & Arpels Feerie new perfume design (2008). This bottle is just amazing! Almost as much as the scent… I feel that the fairy gives it a utopian view that can propel the customer in her own universe of escape… The color also gives it a mysterious feel, and I believe this bottle could stand as a decoration object all by itself!

Vera Wang’s new Look

Posted in 1 tagged , , at 2.30 am by adaphnee

So what do you think about this ad concept:

I am not sure if I am too keen of it… I mean, first of all, are we focusing on the bottle, the fragrance, or more on her very unique and actually heavy dress?? It might be more of a true fashion statement… I do like the “through” the glass of the bottle concept, reminding us of the “Look” title… But the background seems too cluttered with mirroring, and shimmering, that the “look” is a bit lost… However, that might be the whole point of the idea…

What are your thoughts?

Aqva Pour Homme Marine is one of Bvlgari’s new Men’s fragrance. This contemporary perfume carries all the freshness and aquatic aroma to give a man viril personality as well as sensuality.

I thought the ad for this perfume gives us that aquatic touch, and the model definitely delivers on the vibrant personality…

Warhol Green, and proud of Union Square

Posted in 1 tagged , , , , , , , at 3.01 am by adaphnee

Bond’s Warhol second fragrance (made in collaboration with The Warhol Foundation) opened its door in March to a new, trendy neighborhood of New York, introducing Andy Warhol Union Square.

Inspired by the first smell of spring in the Big Apple (as Andy himself used to say) and in Union Square itself, the scent is fresh, green floral and seductive. Also, the place represents where Warhol created his Flowers. This perfume blends in art and freshness in a unique, cool bottle design.

Additionally, following the trend of New York and the whole US, Bond No. 9 is going green. Customers can just bring their empty perfume bottles to Bond No.9 boutiques and perfume counters at Saks Fifth Avenue all over the nation! Exchanged is a free refillable pocket spray!

For me, this fragrance represents cool, sweet, design, art, green, friendly, New York!

Josh Hartnett, now wears beautiful “Diamonds”

Posted in 1 tagged , , , , at 1.41 am by adaphnee

The Giorgio Armani Diamonds for Men campaign now has a new face: Josh Hartnett.

The ad is supposed to represent a real paparazzi shot and Giorgio trying to convey that “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” The perfume is supposed to hit the markets come August.

I must say I like this picture of Josh and the classy and sexy way he is looking at the camera. The edge of the fragrance might be felt right in that spicy look of his. As one of my previous postings on Beyonce and the Diamond ads for women, I have to say I really prefer this choice of character to represent the perfume. I don’t believe Josh Hartnett per say represents sophistication, but his style and the way the picture appears really portrays this side. And the black & white gives it that extra sexiness…

Good ad concept for me on that one!

Did you know Warhol smelled smoky?

Posted in 1 tagged , , , , , , , at 3.05 am by adaphnee

According to the cew.org website, Bond No.9 New York – Andy Warhol Silver Factory – was awarded the best Men’s scent of the 2008 CEW Beauty Insider Choice Awards.

The trendy bottle design together with the smooth and spicy scent, definitely give this new fragrance the edge of being unique. This Eau de Parfum is the starting perfume int he Bond No.9’s Warhol fragrance Collection (licensed under the Warhol Foundation). The name was inspired by Warhol’s most famous NYC neighborhood and the bottle created after his so famous Campbell soup can imagery.

A very artsy story, a very cool perfume…

Walking through Macy’s, Promoting Perfumes

Posted in 1 tagged , , , , , , at 5.18 am by adaphnee

Today, I took a little walk to observe Men’s and Women’s fragrances at Macy’s. Lots of perfumes for the summer season, lots of fresh/blue/sea themes also for Men, many pinks and gold ones for Women.

I didn’t really think much creativity was put into the displays. Only Armani (Code and Aqua di Gio) and Chanel really had display stands to promote their fragrances.

At the end, are displays for such products really effective? Do people pay attention? How could perfume really be promoted without having consumers sneeze because they smelled too many scents??
